BYD Sealion 7 Common Faults & DIY Fixes

Do small glitches and minor faults keep disrupting your BYD Sealion 7 driving experience?

Most owners rush to authorized service centers for every tiny issue, unaware 80% of common Sealion 7 problems have simple DIY fixes.

This troubleshooting guide lists the 6 most frequent Sealion 7 faults, their root causes and step-by-step fixes you can do at home in minutes.

6 Most Common BYD Sealion 7 Faults & Quick DIY Solutions

1. Infotainment Screen Freezes or Restarts Randomly
This is the most reported issue for Sealion 7 owners. The 15.6-inch rotating screen locks up or shuts down while navigating or playing music.

DIY Fix: Hold the screen power button for 10 seconds to force a system reboot. For recurring issues, update the car’s infotainment software via the BYD app.

2. AC Blows Warm Air Even on Cool Setting

The air conditioning fails to cool the cabin, especially in hot Middle Eastern and Australian summers, draining extra battery power.

DIY Fix: Check the cabin air filter (replace if clogged) and ensure the AC mode is set to “Max Cool” with recirculation off for fresh air intake.

3. Wireless CarPlay Disconnects Repeatedly

Apple CarPlay drops connection mid-drive, requiring constant re-pairing with your phone—frustrating for daily commutes.

DIY Fix: Delete the Sealion 7 from your phone’s Bluetooth list, then re-pair with the car’s infotainment system. Keep your phone within 30cm of the center console.

4. Rear Camera Blurry or Has Water Spots

The reverse camera lens gets covered in mud, rain or dust, making parking difficult—common for off-road or coastal driving.

DIY Fix: Wipe the lens with a microfiber cloth. For permanent protection, install model-specific BYD Sealion 7 rear camera protective covers to block dirt and water.

5. Power Windows Roll Up Slowly or Get Stuck

Window glass jams or moves sluggishly, especially after heavy rain or car washes, due to dirt in the window track.

DIY Fix: Spray a small amount of silicone lubricant into the window track and roll the window up/down 5 times to distribute the lubricant evenly.

6. TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor) False Alerts

The TPMS warning light turns on even with correct tire pressure, caused by sensor calibration issues after pressure adjustments.

DIY Fix: Drive the Sealion 7 at 60km/h for 5 minutes to reset the TPMS sensors. Re-calibrate via the car’s central settings menu if alerts persist.

Critical Tips to Avoid Future Sealion 7 Faults

- Update the vehicle’s software monthly via the BYD app to fix system bugs
- Clean the rear camera lens and cabin air filter every 2 months
- Avoid overloading the infotainment system with too many connected devices
- Lubricate window tracks and door hinges quarterly to prevent jamming

Common Owner Misconceptions About Sealion 7 Faults

Myth 1: All electronic glitches require professional repair

Fact: Most infotainment and connectivity issues are fixed with a simple reboot or software update—no technician needed.

Myth 2: AC warm air means the compressor is broken

Fact: 90% of warm AC cases are due to a clogged cabin filter or incorrect mode settings, not a faulty compressor.

Myth 3: DIY fixes will void the Sealion 7 warranty

Fact: Simple fixes like filter replacement, lens cleaning and software updates do not affect your vehicle’s official warranty.

These misconceptions lead many Sealion 7 owners to waste time and money on unnecessary service center visits for minor, fixable issues.
